Rodeo Work Hours NO LONGER count towards PVRA Work Hours
We encourage members to find work hours opportunities in various shows and some flexible work opportunities below.
Show hours are tracked by the show manager, please contact the show manager of each show to make arrangements to volunteer. General ground maintenance is on-going. To submit your hours, please see the Work Hours spiral notebook located at the door of the entry booth on the PVRA grounds. If you have questions please e-mail workhours@pvra.com. Ranch Show
PVRA Ranch Riding Shows — Poway Valley Riders Association
Show dates: 5/18, 6/22, 9/7, and 10/12
Show Grounds Volunteers
Saturday before show Arena 2 watered and dragged by 3:00 p.m for Trail setup, Also water and drag Arena 1 to be ready for Sunday morning
Sunday - Need water and drag as needed. During lunch and if its really hot may need
to water Arena 2 during the day as well as water and drag Arena 1 during the day
Hospitality - Setup coffee and donuts along with snacks for Sunday morning.
Show day Volunteers:
2 Office helpers.
1 Trail Scribe - must be trained and the arena scribe will act as ring steward during rail and conformation classes. Trail Scribe needed from 9:00 a.m until trail is done which is posted as 2:30 but sometimes runs over depending on the number of entries.
1 arena scribe- only scribes until lunch
1 Trail Gate Check in person. Bobby Conwell does this for us.
2 Pole setters, one in arena to reset Ranch Riding poles and one on Trail pattern
2 Gate Keepers - Keep riders aware of who is up next and making sure riders for the current class are in the warm up area. Find missing riders if necessary
2 Prize volunteers - 1 before show to setup awards and 2 after lunch to hand out awards
2 Clean up volunteers, needed to remove poles from Arena 1 after lunch and after show. Empty trash

Working Equitation Shows
PVRA Working Equitation Shows — Poway Valley Riders Association
Setup Day: May 31 and September 13
Show day: June 1 and September 14
Setup day: 2-5pm varies from 8 to 12 workers. The more we have, the faster we get it done. Also need a tractor to move obstacles and to prep the arena. Operator needs to be adept at making footing 3 inches deep and fluffy (not clumpy). Operator needs to be able to move Bridge, Hay bales, etc.
The day of the show: we need 5 workers 8am until about noon, then 12 from Noon to 6 pm.
Shows start at 8 am (entry booth opens at 6:30) and shows end about 6 pm including clearing Ring 1.
