Poway Valley Pony Club
Poway Valley Pony Club (PVPC) was founded in June 1982 and is a Southern California Region affiliate of the United States Pony Clubs. Our program accepts members ages 7 and up, as well as adults. (We even had a member in her 70s!) Members ride in lessons four to eight times a month in groups that are formed according to student ability. Members also participate in unmounted (horse management) lessons. The Pony Club curriculum is designed to provide leadership experience, having experienced members help and mentor new and younger members. Meetings are held at the Poway Valley Riders Association, home of the Poway Rodeo, and are led by highly experienced professional instructors.

Poway Rodeo
WE ARE A PRCA-SANCTIONED RODEO.
The idea of a Rodeo in Poway was started by two Poway Valley Riders Association members, John Walker and Jack Miller. It took them several years to prepare and make all of the necessary arrangements to sponsor a sanctioned PRCA Rodeo in Poway. They and their wives traveled to Oklahoma City, to the National Finals Rodeo, spending their own money, to make the contacts with the PRCA, stock contractors, specialty acts, and rodeo announcer Bob Tallman. Thru their efforts PVRA, The Lions Club, and the Poway Chamber of Commerce formed the Poway Rodeo Committee and produced the first Poway Rodeo in 1973.
